Caged ~ OpenLinkNight ~ dVersePoets

Caged

Struggle to prove worth
I write, fight
teasing rebirth

Self-discovery a journal
less formal
prose and poetry

spill from me, no other
under cover, cares
celebrates, pen-envy, hate

trapped ensnared
not me, not there
the battle wages

bloodlines cages
barbwire insults
results,

in it to win it, no
turning back, dodge attack
throwing it out there

words to hear, no fear
no blood drop, no tear
spitting venom, swallow rage

These words I speak
Will know no
Cage.

Claudia (brilliant word weaver!) is rounding up the Poets for what is bound to be another fantastic evening of words.  OpenLinkNight gets underway at 3pmEST.  Hope you'll come along, if only to read the amazing writes that bleed out onto the pub tables every week at dVersePoets

Also, for those who may be interested, Inspiration Speaks in now available for purchase.  This collaboration includes some pub favorites and with a portion of proceeds going to benefit ColaLife, you can get your good deed on too!

Let the battle rage on and speak the word from dust to dawn. No one should or prob can quiet your act..haha...and that's a lets face it fact.

Gotta love this! Especially:

"These words I speak
Will know no
Cage."

This needs to be the 'motto' for a movement to restore the 'voice' and 'power' of the people!

Cheers!

whew! say what needs to be said tash...funny i ran into this the other week...seems my words were a little too risque for some in my IRL community, got a call from the pastor to turn from my sinful ways and bind my tongue...i think i won him over in the end...but my tongue will not be bound...

Brian! It had better not be bound...you got WAY too many awesome words to spit yet!

A crazy and intense write Tash. I love it and I love that I can hear the turmoil.Too often we settle for a comfort that isn't ours.

A great celebration of the 'what' and the 'why'!!!
Oh yes! So good. Fidelity to your own truth is everything.

really well said Natasha, it is such a shame when people bring their own issues to bear on another, and try to dampen your fire, your own beautiful light, let it blaze, let it blaze...

Sounds like those words made their way out of you, and will most likely continue to whether you'd want them to stop or not, Natasha! Poetry flows from your heart and soul.

Hi Natasha. Love your poem. Well said. I say love me or hate me, gotta say my piece. Won't be gagged. A writer must write regardless of what people think of the words.

The pen-is mightier than the sword! Well, that just had to come out uncensored...LOL!

Effective use of stacking images and phrases to make your case, state your position, unveil the poet. Really well done.

You know I'm loving this one :) I still think I'm letting some of those words hide within, but I'll get there. As always, thanks for the inspiration. You rock!

I do not beleive it's just ur words you refuse to be caged. Very well written. Luved the tone, the strength, the beauty of ur expression of self in poetic declaration. There's something about your poetry I really like. I'll figure it out one day. One thing I like is that it's real. And even if one part of life seems undefined, you define the undefineness (word?)in a very kool way. Missed ur work.

Such words like yours shouldn't be caged, they should be shared with others to enjoy!

in it to win it . . YES!

It's a struggle sometimes to be yourself--that journal, that poem, that page that's blank till you fill it with yourself, is for me the truest form of self-expression, and self-actuation. Loved the fierceness in this one, Tash.

Such a stirring call to arms, for you and for us all. Up with free thought and free writing! Cages begone! Nice write :-)

Great intensity in this piece. Its an interesting thing...how far apart we can feel from the words that come from within sometimes. Love what you have captured here! ~ Rose

There is no box and no cage..not for the writer..only courage. And that's power. Thanks for sharing, Natasha! Write on!

It's a battle never ended. Intense struggle in your words, and appropriately so - let that resolution to never be caged always stand strong. Don't back down. Spread your wings and fly!

Roar! Thunders into my bones, I think voice is a particularly difficult issue for women. That's more like a bonfire issue than soap box rant so I'll leave it off your page. Keep living out loud.
Love the flow in this one. It's bad enough when others try to cage our words and really too bad that some people are caging their own. Somehow I can't imagine you ever caged yourself or your words. And whoever tried to do that to you...well let's just say I wouldn't want to be them. :-)

"I write, fight

This is exactly where I am. But I don't think I'll win.

Amen! This poem is like standing up and giving witness. Deserves to be shouted out loud.
Your last lines were especially evocative. Since you capitalize the first word of each line, at first thought of John Cage. Then I thought of a scene in an old movie, "Dr. Zhivago." A prisoner conscripted for labor is on the train with the good doctor, and is in shackles. He howls at his imprisoner, "I am the only free man on this train, lickspittle!" We have asserted our freedom. Now we must say something people really need to hear.

An accomplished piece indeed Natasha. I love the imagery and skilful economy of language.
Dear Natasha

Very controlled thoughts though it seems like that it will break free from the cage any moment... Powerful.
I liked your lines... so aptly trying to break free... from the bondage..

"words to hear, no fear
no blood drop, no tear
spitting venom, swallow rage"
