Random and Unprompted

They tell me I need to do more with my life.
They tell me I need the big house, the flashy car, and then...
then I will be successful.

I tell them, I did all that
And you know where it got me?
Chased by the biggest dragons

I've yet to encounter upon this journey.
Firebreathing, doubting my worthiness
bouncing on the rubber

my life had become.  Seems there's
a little something these guru's don't
tell you on the road to success/excess...

You have to keep it up.

Sacrifice time to live, time to give
because you already owe your soul.
And its a 25 year deal...if you're lucky.

Tash, I completely agree with this. I've never been quite to the excess path but completely have seen the scenario you've painted play out. Love the last line here, such a great way to end this piece. Great job. Thanks

Very true indeed, 25 year deal is all too real and prob stretches another 25 more for many at their shore.
Love this. Totally my thing. Speaks to me about the ridiculousness of materialism and how once in that mindset it is all consuming and actually robs you of your life. YOU ARE NOT WHAT YOU OWN

Simplify or up and die! And perhaps piss a few folks off in the process...but my heart beats at a much safer rate ;)

Word verification last time was "sorsesse." He's a great director, isn't he? *ahem*

I love that ... rebelling against babylonian decadence. Let the artistic spirit out, unprompted, and in its random mood. :-)
Damn .... sooo good!

Very true. Lovely poem, Tash!

On the road to success/excess ... indeed.
I love this. I love that you're wise enough to see it, and brave enough to say it.

Love this...Too often people are viewed as what they possess and not who they are.
