Tiger~Eye

Silently watching
through the waves of golden grass
Not blinking, he waits
as he eyes approaching prey
too fool to sense the danger

Scent wafting on the wind
He salivates in hunger
But he knows patience
His eyes follow the rodent
His tail twitches like the grass

Closer the prey creeps
within reach of hungry paw
Golden grass alive
Earth becomes trap, leads to death
of hunger, and of the prey.

I always get a hint of tiger in watching my cats. They'll even stalk one another. My one female is a vengeful ninja, hiding and waiting for any opportunity to smack the upstart boys. Enjoyed your piece.

I enjoyed this. I could feel the tension mount as tiger does what a tiger in the wild was born to do. Excellent visuals to boot.

This reminded me of my last cat, a serious mouser. She would leave the entrails outside my bedroom door. I'd like to believe she was gifting me the prized organs but probably not.

Well done Natasha for following in Blake's footsteps. Takes a master like yourself to take on The Tiger.

You really went all eye of the tiger
Rocky would be proud..haha
Glad I'm not on the other end of that attack too.

Good thing I read the comments, I had in mind saying something like what James said. I believe cats of all sizes are naturally inspiring to poets..their grace, intelligence, and independence all so appealing. The giant cats have a certain majesty as well particularly tigers. Good capture here, yourself Tash. Well done.

"Silently watching

Nature at its purest. Gotta love the tiger - what a creature- and you captured not only him - but the tension before the strike . Nailing the short form and packing it full of tangibles.

as he eyes approaching prey
too fool to sense the danger - really enjoyed those lines, particularly the second one. Just reads so well.

Nice work here. Really enjoyed this.

Tigers are so vicious. The power they wield in one swipe of the paw can tear a living thing in half at one swipe. What a visual array you supply to evoke such power. Well done, Tash.
