Unlawful Sodomization-Open Mic @RiverJournal1
When talks first started of having an open mic night where we would be linking up audio at The River...I panicked! When I was younger, you couldn't shut me up, but it's been a LONG time since I rock and rolled, so this stuff makes me nervous! No matter...I'm doing it anyway, and I hope you will too! This time, I took one of my NaPoWriMo pieces, busted out my Casio from '92 and managed to pull a beat I could work with...how well, I guess is up to you! Be gentle! And come and join us with your own smooth styling sounds at The Literary Lounge for our first ever Open Mic! Link up with JohnnyK at Lounge hosted by The River Journal
I've gotten lost within the cement
buried, broken, still bleeding and bent
below the noise of industrialization
who's iron jaws have swallowed our nation.
This concrete jungle has arms that reach
beyond country pews where pastors preach
below the fathoms of oceans alive
below the mountains where molten earth strives
to reach it's full and smokey potential
the ore of our hearts have become non-consequential
when they only seek souls that are able to bleed
the blood of currency, build demand for the need
to keep the people quiet and calm
while they build weapons and hoard the napalm
that will be used dare we raise our voice
and say "What about us...don't we have a choice?"
Lost between lines of complacency and despair
how low will they take us, before we finally dare
to rise in defiance against the powers that be
that would rather see us wiped out in the name of pure greed?
Start hiding your dollars in old plastic tins
buried in back yards along with our sins
Start taking your dollars back from the banks
to see how quickly they fall in their ranks.
Do not doubt your power, do not doubt your strength
do not doubt your reach to keep them at arm's length.
Do not doubt your brothers, your sisters, their fear
is equal to yours but do they know you are near
to building an army to take it all back
with simple words, a power attack
the courage to say that we matter too
and we refuse to take any more from you.
We are people, unlike your corporation
no matter what status you've conned from the nation.
We matter, we're here and we're willing to stand
to make you account for your raping of man.

we need bongos and berets
Remove your pens from their scabbards, poets, and wield them in the name of justice..
