The universe has ways of inspiring our pens
If we are open to receive them.
Ten hours trapped behind a desk
Phones ringing
faxes dinging
voice mail singing
and thoughts of all the different ways
you could have done things
to avoid the quagmire of devastation
that now looms before you
in a pile of unnecessary paper
and bleeding ink.

You can close your eyes,
try to quite the noise
through sheer will power, or....
you can step outside
look to the sky
and know
inspiration will be waiting.
