Snowstorm of Doubt and Grace ~ A Blue Room Review

Snowstorm of Doubt and GraceSnowstorm of Doubt and Grace by Ken Hume
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The heart of a song writer is laid bare in this fantastic collection by mother and son team Ken & Caitriona Hume. This well laid out collection explores so many of the doubts and turmoils struggling artist's experience as they do their best to make their way in the world.

We are invited into the Coffee Shop, where we are allowed to become that fly on the wall as we watch the scribe battle his pen in an effort to overcome the dogma that has been ingrained into the very fabric of our supposedly civilized society.

A favorite line from "Caught in the Crossfire" reads..."A conflict of interest, a conflict of desires
Between my faith and craft, wrapped like wires"
from here we dance through to our "Silver Screen of Memory" where "...hope and regret perform for free"

This collection bleeds truth, struggle, and finally acceptance, as you journey through the pieces that are spoken in a voice that is honest and heart felt. There is no doubt left as to the passion the authors feel for their craft.

This is not a collection to be sped through. The presentation, the craftsmanship and above all, the painfully evident talent, begs you to linger, to explore the heart of the artist, to feel the turmoil, to relate and to engage. It is a reflection on all of us that work such as this does not grace our bestsellers list. This reader was moved to tears, lifted in joy, and will return again and again to experience the journey from doubt to grace.
