Confessions ~ #Poetry by @Tashtoo

Confession

You drove us down that lonely road
Air thick with anticipation
Lines firmly drawn were about to cross
With a summer's eve conversation.

The crickets sang a serenade
And a fence to block the view
Of others who may cross our path
But it was only me and you.

So close, your scent, it tantalized
But did little to quiet fears
Forsaking what was held on to dearly
Cherished for all these years

You spoke sweet words to comfort me
Allowing me to trust
In gentle whispers you promised me
That you never meant to rush.

Your mother's quilt became our bed
It made me feel so bad
You laughed out loud and shoulders shrugged
It was the only thing you had.

Your lips brushed mine and I awoke inside
Asking for your touch
Breathing heavy you grabbed my hands
Surrendering to lust

No witnesses were there to see
No one to tell the tale
The secret to our grave would go
No confession behind my veil.

So...we're being prompted by the awesomeness that is Fred Rutherford (aka @PoeticalPsyche) to explore "First Times" through poetry. This is an oldie...but, to me, also quite fitting. It's Poetics over at dVersePoets...and you're invited!

wow...my first time was a car as well...at the park after dark...seduced by girl of a bit more experience...smiles...ha...i trusted her for a bit before she cut my heart out and ate it in front of me...oy here i am taking the beauty of your moment and getting all dark....you took me there though, those first moments...they were beautiful then...

smiles...i like the atmosphere of trust here, also mother's quilt, maybe a bit of security, the nature surrounding for being open to the new, the fence for protection...nice...

quite fitting…indeed. Love the courageous posting. Really love the emotions, the secrecy element and the phrasing in here. Strong piece Tash.

Yes, those guys and cars and lonely roads. Somehow the guys always knew where to go, didn't they...and also how to manage to gain trust. A brave share! A good poem!
A car, a line down the lane...not in my teenage year. No car, no lane!

Sounds very covert, romantic, tender, trusting, lustful! Everything it usually is, the first time...LOL

Almost a 19th century feel to this Tash, despite the car--and a little bit of the cloisterphobia(as I call it) here and there with the veil and all--but the moment has its own independent existence, and you can feel it in every word.

Nothing like a boy or man who knows where all the passion pits are, and we knew how to push those buttons, rev those motors, and that precious gift of maidenhood was either treasured or click off on an asshole's list; great poem, liked the lines /forsaking what was held onto dearly/for all those years.

Every first time should be like yours. Sadly, it is not always the case. Loved the innocence in this.

Something universal here....you explore it so well, and that hook at the beginning.....'you drove us down that road'...had my eyes racing.....something quite amazing about these 'first times' that are never told, kept as secrets....this is quite special Tash

You are always courageous, I couldn't do what you have done here and admire you for it.

So nicely done, putting into words something we can all relate to, so poignant and tender... I love what the rhyme adds to the universal feel of this.

The quilt got me, too. I would have reacted the same way.
