Elemental Magic @NWCreativeUnion #WWUC

First, there is nothing.
Blackness pervades all that is
all that will ever be
until it collapses in on self
with such a force
the breath of life is ignited

Winds of change
the breath of the gods
sustaining life
though was this the life they had in mind?
Harness the power of creation
to do our own bidding?

The light becomes the fire
fed by the breath of the gods
filters deteriorating
as we consume what was thought
to be never-ending
Ignorance cannot be seen as bliss
should it become our undoing

As the water begins to boil
we question how we might sustain ourselves
there is no thought to sincere change
only alternative sources
so that we may continue on
there is no washing clean
only risk
as poison flows freely from our taps
and we turn our heads
for the sake of convenience

The wrath of the warlords will be our undoing
as our mother prepares to scold
revoking free will
it is her magic we must fear
for within her body
her soldiers march to meet our modern armies
of plastic and synthetic humanoids
who long ago forgot
who we really answer to.

It's that time of the week again, when the New World Creative Union pumps up the volume on the mid-week blues.  We're talking Elemental Magic this week...and you're more than welcome to play along! You've got till Sunday morning.  See the prompt for this weeks Wednesday Wake Up Call.

Wow Natasha! A strong dressing down of how we have treated our mother earth. "modern armies of plastic and synthetic humanoids" are no match for her when she demands we pay for our abuse. Great job!!

Awesome tale, but those photos are outstanding, some amazing captures and the way you broke up the verse with the images worked so well. Excellent piece Tash.
Natasha,
A strong & superb writing and loved the photos as well. Excellent prompt too!

An apocalyptic homage to the elements. How deliciously divine!

The imagery in this one was just, well hell, it was damned near perfect.

I hate when you do that!

=)
Wow! Gorgeous images to go with this stark truth...love the contrast. Powerful ending. Unfortunately we have forgotten who we answer to. It's scary, but we must also continue to see beauty...it may be our only hope.
