Chrysalis #OpenLinkNight @dVersePoets

Confined, limits exceeded
no praise falls from their tongues
Confused...Is this not what was desired
Growth beyond what is expected?

Cracked, the casing shifts
splits
Colors bleeding out
Wings

Crossed...set to unfold
blossoms
Collides with gossamer webs
set to ensnare

Captured...bent and limited
no room
Crevices, expose weakness
ledge tempts

Cliff awaits...run, full force
falling
Creation...ripping pod
death to walls

Chrysalis...birthed
by my momentum.

Direct flight
to a mason jar of my own making
where tire swings
and pretty things
never outlast
the season.

It's OpenLinkNight and Joe Hesch returns to the pub this afternoon. Going live at 3pmEST...see you at dVerse

Can't capture such a feeling forever
No matter the endeavor
But looking for a glow
Can help one grow
Although I'll avoid the cliff at my sea
That may not end pretty
First first
Brian is worst.

oh the mason jars of our own making...too many of them...sometimes they feel safe but just take us prisoner...and sometimes it's just a struggle to break free and fly again..
Brian Miller said…
ouch...the mason jar ending got me....ugh....finally breaking free only to be trapped once more....and that is a struggle much harder at times to break out of....felt tash....felt...

A rending capture, I felt the fast-beating wings. It is so hard when the boundaries of our lives don't expand to circumscribe our new selves.

Oh my goodness - really liked this from beginning to end - the mason jars of our own making - just a gorgeous line! K

powerful Tash... mason jars of our own making... but things are always changing, even the jar of memory cannot hold a particular moment of beauty for ever... well I guess it just transforms, births, metamorphs into something new.

I hope that you will consider sharing an offering for this year's 4th annual gratitude word quilt. You can find information about the project and how to participate at the top of my blog.

This is wonderful! Un-confined, every metaphor so clever!

oh, that ending!

a butterfly is a glimpse of life, and love, and the beauty of the temporary.

touching, poignant and lovely, all wrapped up in one.

This is powerful, Tash! The ending, especially so.

A differnete voice; short, quick, sharpe lines of soft images cutting deep. Freedom is worth the price, always. Every unfettered, un mason-jarred breath is a good one, and worth it. I like this. You be very kool to me dear tasha!

poor butterfly...too struggle so hard to escape and still find itself trapped.

I enjoyed the harsh sound of the c's (and cr's) that lead each line. I think they emphasized the struggle and cruelty.

I liked the sound of this; how your played wit the “C” sounds throughout and then you let it all erupt with a grand finale where tire swings
and pretty things
never outlast
the season.

So literate, and alliterate, like the birth of a poem itself, the wonder of metamorphosis, coupled to both the joy of flight and he railing against restrictions, boundaries. This butterfly of careful stanzas breaks out, soars, and sinks back into the harness; great ride, Nat.

A few months ago I wrote my own butterfly poetic. I don't think you read it. CRISTOFLEOGE
http://bibliosity.blogspot.com/2012/05/cristofleoge.html check it out for grins.
Cool theme. Really creative write. It sounds like a metamorphosis when you read it out loud.

this comes with such a deep meaning and you have, rightly, showcased that we are prisoners of our own comfort (at least in my case) as I am striving to break free from all the comfort and struggle to move ahead.

What a strong finish to this wonderful work about growth, change, frustration and closing walls. Much enjoyed this fine piece, Natasha.

The final staza here is both powerful and yet ulrtimately, sad. Another evocative and thoughtful poem Natasha.Hugs, James.

The ending really wraps this up in truth. We do create our own mason jars, often just by seeking freedom. The thoughts
here are worthy of deep reflection. So well done.

that last stanza!

gotta love that ;-) thanks so much ;-)

Growth beyond what is expected-- funny how touchy some are about that, when we decide to break through the membrane and open our wings, free to go where we choose. I liked the violence of motion here, of a determination, a defiance even.
