Dragon's Blood~ #SundaySnapShot @NWCreativeUnion

Photography by James Rainsford
There is magic in our history
as much as there is mystery
let the blood of dragons spill

There is power in the past
if the lessons were to last
and not chain the dragon's will

We speak of gardens, speak of trees
speak of God, divinity
will we ever have our fill?

The blood of dragons, the blood of kings
we burnt the witches, poor pretty things
and the flames will burn until

We recognize the power of where we stand
We recognize the mother who truly owns the land
We embrace the heart of every child, every man
We recognize the Dragon's plan

Dare we open our hearts to the history
Release the need to challenge mystery
and respect our own free will

Until then
the dragon's blood will spill

A powerful and intriguing incantation. It's amazing what complex language and ideas can be promted by a simple image. Thank you Natasha for this perceptive and historically appealing poem. You've certainly made me see my picture in a new and revealing light. James.

bravo, natasha! I lost meaning in first reading by admiring poet's use of rhyme and refrain...but then we know me as a rhyming kind lol now. there's power in the magic here. if I were a fantasy writer, your work and the photo set images to dance in my mind of a dragon's alter and sacrifice...but I'm not. always my thanks to you, natasha, for all you are and all you do

"Dare we open our hearts to the history Release the need to challenge mystery
and respect our own free will" Love this. The earth, the universe is speaking if we but listen. I so like the mystical feel to this and it was fantastic to hear you read it!

I wrote a poem of a dragon today...nowhere near as deep a one such as this, but fun!
I enjoyed this poem immensely, and have always felt that magic should exist

This part, "Dare we open our hearts to the history. Release the need to challenge mystery" really hit home.

Beautiful.
