Venus & Sailor
Venus & Sailor~ Salvador Dali ~ 1925 |
Stepping from the garden
I mistakenly perceived this human world worth the risk.
Womb ready
My nurturing attributes were not held in high regard
My Roman heritage betrays me
as the Greeks raise the pedestal
as though they alone could lay claim to my love
Aphrodite Urania ~ know you will never tame my spirit
Aphrodite Pandemos ~ know you will never own my heart
Still, even the gods get fooled
When the port of call is scented with lust
and mortal men have been without play far too long.
Reason escapes me
along with my sense of self.
Could I be fool enough to accept his embrace
knowing their fragile ways.
Could he taste Atlantis on my tongue
See her fall in my eyes
The scent of the sea,
Aphrodite & Adonis
In his passion he is blind to truth
It was me...always me
before the land, before the sea
before Venus, before Aphrodite
I am the fire that stirs his loins
The air that fuels his heart
The earth that steadies his feet
The seas that give him means
He
is the one I will wait for.

My fav part:
"I am the fire that stirs his loins
The air that fuels his heart
The earth that steadies his feet
The seas that give him means"
This part especially is done in tune with the ancient bards' ways of expressing.
Bravo Natasha - you pull two genres of art and make them one with your words
