All in the Name of YOU ~ #MTB @dVersePoets

YOU who dare to stand before me
as though you know not why I cry...

throwing around simple words
my addiction
as though my own mind

remains as dead as your own.

The lies live on because of you.

Stubborn, vain
your ego alone takes up physical space
as you go on...and on...and on

pushing me tighter against the wall
begging for that last breath
would that make you happy?

Would that fill your void
the hole where everything that is wrong with this world
is baptized and born again

through the all wonderful
blistering beautiful
plastic that is you.

Who do you think you are...really?
Can you believe the lies
or have you grown so used to it
they become your definition of truth.

In your little holy book
with your beady holy eyes
belittling the great creator
by claiming you speak for HIM.

Spare me the bullshit
Your heart is godless
Your mind
pure evil.

It takes a certain kind of person
you're that kind of person
that can take the good book

and make it bleed the blood of your enemies
innocent as they were.

Poetry in the second person...do we even ponder such things when we sit down to write? Victoria is asking us to, today over at MeetingTheBar...show us what YOU got. dVerse is ready to receive your words.

This is a strong poem, Tash. Makes me think of people out there who have answers for everyone else and pass judgment on others with regularity without looking at their own hearts!

yep..makes me think of the over-religious as well who think they know everything and have all the answers and work with a lot of pressure...ugh...

I'm certainly in agreement. The holier-than-thou attitude really comes through.

This is strong stuff Tash. It almost came as a relief to find that it's about religious intolerance and self-righteousness - almost. And the line about making the good book bleed is especially powerful.

God'll get you for this one, Tash ~~ It will heap blessings on you for being truthful!

:)

Write on, You, write on.

I love Steve's comment! So much wrong has been done to others over the years in the name of religion...a lot of good, too, but sadly the wrong overpowers the good way too often. I read this as a strong indictment of someone who has caused lasting harm to you (or the narrator.) Powerful and sad,Tash. Thank you.

Oh very strong words, those who are overly religious can cause such pain... or even just use their power to cause pain... I agree write on!

Rave on, sister, for it is the zealots that stimulate & orchestrate war, injustice, stoning, beheading--and like you I have confronted the hypocrisy wherever I found it; our souls cannot be confined, manacled or beat down by the trainloads of dogma, the ecclesiastical threats, exclusion from their club, exorcism from their madness. This one is my favorite of yours this month. It has pushed my buttons, and wrung my tail.

Can you hear me clapping and shouting?

"Hear, Hear!"

Zealots are dangerous, no matter their god.

And those who repeatedly return to another's past challenges do not understand the truth and purpose of life, the learning and process of experience.
BRAVA!

...you give me a kind of impression from someone experiencing too much cruelty in life... full of hate and disappointment... or could be a message to someone hiding from too much faith, claiming to be the truth not realizing he's been lost for so long already... very affecting to read... and it fits to be recited in a declamation contest... smiles...

A Powerful Poem - describes so many holier-than-thou people I have encountered, and also the collective egos who count war justifiable in a distorted conception of religion. Bravo, Tash.

it's situation like these that turn people away... why do people put a masks in the name of something they are not committed to... spoils it for the sincere of heart

A strong write.

"It takes a certain kind of person

that can take the good book

and make it bleed the blood of your enemies
innocent as they were."

How true this is.

brilliant, tash... and so true.

"through the all wonderful
blistering beautiful
plastic that is you."

as always, i am overwhelmed by your gift of words - truly marvelous construction.
and ooooh... i can't stand those people!!

another strong one, and it is sad what so many do to a really simple theology. What is taught is rarely what is written...hmm, has the feel of an opening line... :)

wow - so much emotion in your words! amazing writing!

Great lines here Tash. Superb ending. Unfortunately I've met a lot of people like this. Used to work in the south where I'd hire temporary workers and independent contractors for jobs and for whatever reason they all thought by telling me their life stories and where many thought taking the role of a supreme religious person would get them more work. Not sure if it worked, don't think so, as there usually was enough work to go around, but I quickly found out the hypocrisy in some of these folks. This is an outstanding way to poeticize this. Great write. Thanks

Ouch -- horrible. To have such relationships is terrible. I learn that I have been fortunate when I read this sort of writing.
Strong!

And you illustrate how easily religion can be used as an abusive tool -- 'Nothing to kill or die for / And no religion too ..."
