Hold On

I don't want to talk about letting go. I've had two years of letting go. I won't begin to tell you the length of my denial.

I want to talk about holding on. Finding that thing that's worth it and grabbing on with everything you have. That thing that keeps you going...on through the vastness of a cold and lonely December night. On through the brightest July afternoon that shows the world every flaw you've ever tried to hide.

It's the holding on that get's you past the letting go. It's the hope...the faith...the heart that has allowed you the privilege of curling up inside its chambers, not judging, not caring how long it takes you to lick your wounds, to heal. To find that little bit of you, you remain tethered to. Telling you, over and over again, no matter how much you want to give up...to just hold on.

So yes...while I understand there are times when you have to let go...these are the times when you also must remember those things worth holding on to...and I urge you...hang on with all your might.

yes..def. there are times to let go and times to hold on and our heart tells us what's the right thing to do as well...and then def. hang on to that with all our might..

wow. nice reversal to the theme….yes, the Holding On ISO Letting Go. Maybe it's just a facet of Letting Go?
Good piece.

Thank-you for writing this! I've been blogging non-stop about letting go recently and cringed when I read the prompt because the term is now associated with so much heartache. Holding on is so important to. Sometimes we let of things too quickly and hold on to things we shouldn't but when it comes to matters of the heart, sometimes our heart decides this for us, and sometimes its just a matter of time

Opposites need each other to be part of our reality.

...the more you hold on...the more you tolerate the suffering...the more it gets deeper... the more it kills... but the good thing about holding on - you become stronger and bolder enough to face another stage after you learn the art of letting go... smiles...

..good point well taken...some of us inherited grandmother's worry genes ;) the Pollyanna approach seems like such a good one to use..consciously make the effort to think on the good side of things,,the world is a stage, too, when we absorb others' letting go vicariously..it can get pretty heavy out there..

Well, that was good!

As much as we let go, we hug and hold on tighter in many little ways so that they always come back.

To books, a little space, a little pampering.

It's the holding on that get's you past the letting go.

Fabulous sentence. It threw me into the poem whole heartedly.

Nice poetry and message on the issue of letting go vs holding on. There are many things in life that are meant to hold onto. The heart knows what to hold onto and what to let go of...

Some things have to be let go, some are taken form us, some we must fight to keep. I'm so feeling your passion in this Tash, it's so strong.
