Little Pieces ~ Little Hopes

Each little piece
dancing before me
out of place, rearranged,
spinning
like so many faceted tear drops
catching the rays of the sun
that never breaks through to shine on my heart

I feel...with every ounce of my being
every pain shared
is it any wonder I've been left fragmented

the sick
the hungry
the dying
taking up so much space
where is the room for love
when atrocities of our own making
weight down our soul

Shift now
consciousness distorted
a chemical cocktail
to stop the spinning

winning?

It was never about winning
I could care less where the pieces fit
as long as they fit
I could care less how fast they get put back together
as long as I can cling to the faith that it will happen...

Broken...perhaps
fixable...maybe
Lovable?
Christ...I hope so.

They told me that's why I'm here....

To love
to be loved

They told me that's why we're all here

and that makes me wonder
if THEY weren't like the others
telling me what I want to hear
in hopes I'll join the army
march with the masses
and forget the truth
I was born with.

Broken...perhaps
fixable...of course
lovable?

More than this world can handle.

In a world where we have reduced love to cheap lines in a card, perhaps

"a chemical cocktail
to stop the spinning

winning?"

is the best antidote humanity can offer? I really hope that's not the best antidote available.

"To love
to be loved

They told me that's why we're all here."

I believe it...most of the time! I think we all (including the world in general)has its broken times; but we have to believe that individuals and 'the world' is fixable!

I love your last line in particular. Also, the idea of being broken but fixable. Very nice!

^^^LOVE THIS and the lines of being being broken, but fixable.
I like the way you question...- that resonates with me.

My therapist calls it "excess empathy." I think it makes you loveable because you can really SEE people. A really nice confessional. I imagine I would read aloud quite well.

Hey you, 'broken but fixable' - tell me about it... For me, 'they told me that's why I'm here' and 'more than this world can handle' are both killer lines...

Yes! I love the ending. "More than the world could handle" this makes me think of my blog post "Am I Worthy?" Awesome Natasha!

We all become broken at some point in our life... we question our thoughts, our friends, the people who want to help us. We all make it through stronger than before.

Yeah very true
Broken comes due
Been there this past year
Broke from head to toe to rear
Sucks in every way
But life goes on to the next day

I could really feel this one as love is needed in a broken world.

when we shatter we get to decide what we want to look like when reassembled...the new build cannot exist with out the old broken. The trick is to love them both equally for what they bring us. Send peace ~ Rose

This's truly a great piece Tash. That message of being warned by possibly the very same people to should be warned against. Great stuff!

I did some yearly gardening recently in a warmer place and had to break some ground up. My hope is months after I left, what was once broken, will produce blooms of life and love. Your poem reminded me of that. There is hope in brokenness, at least I hope so too.
Powerful words these...

"the sick
the hungry
the dying
taking up so much space
where is the room for love
when atrocities of our own making
weight down our soul"

There will always be some who want to keep us marching in step, but if we keep reminding ourselves that we each have a unique purpose in this world, then maybe we'll all have a chance. Keep loving, and you will be loved (just as you are).

I liked your post-poem message as much as--but very differently than your poem. I am so totally sure that this narrator is not only "more than the world can handle" but also more than the world deserves . . . And as far as the pieces dancing--did you and Mary decide to write about the same phenomenon? Hmm. Vivid and strong poem. I'll try to bring something over to the radio soon.
Because there is so much suffering in the world we need to give more love, not conclude it is so scarce we should horde it. But of course we have to feel worthy to receive it ourselves to truly walk in love. And that may the most difficult part. Life not working? Smash it and start again! Even the former governor of South Carolina does not regret the way he made a fool of himself for love. And Woody Allen declares, "the heart wants what the heart wants!" Go with it, Tash! ENJOY!

there is such a powerful tension between daily economics and our love for ecology and humanity. profit and loss were well paired. =)

This is the price we pay when we internalize Weldschmerz...it is because we feel love and are loved that we do. I feel the pain here...and I will not give up that concept of love conquering ...nor will you Tash!

You always light the fire, thank you! I sent your copies of Signal from Static today. It was a wonderful feeling!
The poem certainly seems to encapsulate Misfit thinking. Thank God for love!

Strong lines here Tash. Love how you reworked the "chorus" section in here, question mark works so effectively. Strong, strong piece. Thanks

Of course, we are humans born with hope. That's the wings that carry us across the chasms of despair.
