Out of Time

I destroy that that I cannot love
Slowly
Painfully
Letting time
Apathy
eat away.

This heart was not made for love.
Consumed by so many misguided notions
for a species who has no hope of understanding.

I open this heart
and immediately you mistrust
I show you my truth
And you cower
For it is truly your heart
that knows nothing.

The fairy tale has long since faded
there is no waking from this dream

We are here now
Cocooned in walls of our own making
Surely as stuck
as the fly to the spider.

What webs we have woven
only to ensnare these mad desires
that leave us feeling wet and guilty
in the musk of an autumn twilight.

Remember the promises
remember the plans
now like a train run of its track
I have put pedal to the metal
with only pure disregard for our destination.

I have worried over these things far too long.
If destiny steers, so be it
If I steer, wish us luck.

I'm done with waiting.

You give so much of yourself without fear. I admire that of your writing.

strong undercurrent in this one...tired of waiting for someone to step up and steer...its time for fate to decide...if not you then...def a felt piece tash...
I love the ending of this - sometimes you cannot wait anymore - you just have to do it. Wonderful.

Oh, this just speaks to me. And I love, "If I steer, wish us luck"

Nice way to reclaim what is yours!

OK, I know this will sound stupid, but I liked this one so much, I actually read it backwards once as well, just to see the power flow in reverse.

You must write by slitting the wrist of your pen, letting ink and blood swim together...
