The One Fear

How much determines dream from destiny?
What happens when your insides become so afflicted,
you literally project your nightmares
into the land of the waking
to the point your facing down a worse-case scenario
you completely fabricated in your mind?

Dreams come true
Nightmares too.

How many reasons do you create to muster your courage.
To some how rise each morning and pull the will to live
from the shallow pool of yourself that remains?

You live for others, not out of the goodness of your heart
but because the guilt that comes with living for yourself
can be easily avoided by simply NOT.

Dreams of a better world
so that perhaps one day your daughter can wake
and love herself enough to live the life she was born to.
Nightmares of leaving behind the memory of a mother who never could.

I have been given two choices.
Both dreamed up in the wee hours
of endless, sleepless night.
Both now living and breathing
in burning daylight.

The only true fear now
is the realization of the consequences
of the example I'm setting.

A great think piece, Tash...but you are sooooo hard on yourself. Those dreams, nightmares, as you know are coded solutions...sometimes one is ready, sometimes not...Scary but embraceable. Great write!~jackie~

really got me...understanding our own motives is often a scary thing...the heart for the next generation and hoping they can do better than us, its real...

we create our dreams...and our nightmares...most often in what we believe about ourselves...
