Grave Digger

Settling in
Knowing the storm returns
Tomorrow.

If this is fate
The clouds are my casket
I will stand at my own grave

And smile.

We do what we can
To make the most of circumstances
We do what we have to
To survive

Indifference has a color all it's own.
There are times I wonder
If I exist at all.

There is no breath to this silence
No reward for the servitude
The clouds loom on my horizon

I stare at an image of myself
I have created in my mind
Six feet below

My feet are bare
I know this earth is solid
The rain is cold

My nerves acknowledge
Reflex reaction

My heart remains within the earth
With no rhythm to be heard.
