The Hills of Dunvegan
The land before time approaches
As though animated dinosaurs
Will collide with the black bear
While deer watch
From the pavements edge
The hills are gentle
Smooth and rolling
Deceptive in their incline
As you fall to the mighty Peace
The view steals your breath
No matter how often you travel through
Gardens and tepees
Built to commemorate
To help us remember
Time suspended
Like the mouth of the bridge that greets you
Where the ferry used to run
History thrives in their shadow
Tourists and locales mingle
Stories unfold
As we all try to hang on
For the sake of those
Who will follow
