NaPoWriMo 10.04.12 Meets OpenLinkNight
Truly hope that the wonderful photographer Tracey Grumbach doesn't mind me stealing a little more inspiration from the awesome prompt provided by Brian Miller at Saturday's Poetics...and hope our wonderful host for this evenings festivities doesn't mind me carrying over that poetic flow to OpenLinkNight. A fave pen wielder, Mr. Joe Hesch will be manning the bar, and poetry will be on tap! Join us at 3pmEST over at dVersePoets when Joe will be swinging the doors wide in welcome!
Touch the Sky
Why is it, if one decides to change the course of their life
though it has only been half lived
they meet with resistance?
Why is it, we reach certain milestones
and some remain content
to stop dreaming?
I want to play with finger paints
and fashion rainbows where skies are blank.
I want to dance the ledge
in defiance of these man-made barriers we impose.
If I had wings to fly
I would do more than touch the sky...
I would make my nest in a cloud
and dream of spun sugar defenses...
While people my own age
shake their heads
and go about their 9 to 5
I will not let myself...
that little piece of me
be chewed up and devoured
in the name of growing up.
I know where the dragons hide,
and I confess I do have wings.
Thanks to Brian Miller for the inspiration...loved his piece Dragons...and Other Things We Forget...check it out!

And that ending is perfect.
Maybe one day I will hide with those dragons.

Live your dreams Natasha. This is not a rehearsal.
Wings, indeed. The words soar here!
What a great image, and I agree with Claudia, if you know where the dragons live I'd love to know. I've got some beautiful shiny things I'd be willing to trade for a day in their midst :).
