Stars Ever Lasting

In celebration of those who have stayed true to their passion and their dreams.  A self-proclaimed freak on a leash, I know all to well how easy it is to give in to the pressure to fit someone else's definition of who you should be.  I am a fan of all humans; the jerks who butt in line, the bullies who thrive on making the other feel less than human, the hopeless romantic who lovingly keeps her head buried deep within the sand, the wearer of rose coloured glasses, who no one respects until they just want to feel better.  What a wonderful, hateful, loving, Hodge-podge we exist in~! And yes, there's even something to be said for the government employee who treats you like an idiot and leaves you feeling like something less than human...even though a good chunk of your paycheck goes to pay hers. And to those who have hung on to themselves despite all of it, you will all remain my Stars Ever~Lasting!

Stars Ever~Lasting

Shouting from this rock most high
I am ME and will not die!
Even when this body's done
My legacy will still be hung
In hallways where the truth does shine
A testament to the days of mine.
Though I was born of a different realm
It's here I'm chained to burning sun
So I'll wave the flag for all to see
That there is nothing wrong with ME.
Skipping pavement like small flat stones
I've crushed kingdoms and toppled thrones
The definition of who I am
Is always ready to be rewritten!
Through flames of courage I proudly stand
With finger pointed to promised land
They may not want you to follow me
Yet it is only my way that will set you free.
I will take you as you are
Imperfect, beautiful, flawed and scarred
You must let go, that worried brow
I am here to tell you now
Do not fear those waters deep
Full immersion is what you seek
Washing clean in waters pure
You'll find salvation at your door
when you learn to love the you
That so many others do!
I love you all just as you are
Those brilliant, everlasting stars.

great work, natasha! you had me from the opening two lines, my favorites from this piece :)

Monty
You are nicer than me, I'd kick some of them where they pee.
If they bother me to much or try and get a touch.
The I'd flip them the bird and call them the bad word for turd.
Or the bad word for what the turd comes out of, screw being all lovey dove.
Ok I'm not really that mean of a cat, but I can't speak for that guy named Pat.
He's a mean person you know, always calling people slow.
This whole thing came off a bit strange, but rhymetime will never change.
Another chicken soup for the soul...so delicious Natasha!
''Do not fear those waters deep''. Seems like a tender prayer to me.

Great lines. Applaud your accepting attitude and expressing that in prelude and poem; however, must say I can't stand bullies.

Independence and acceptance, a positive message that made me feel a singularly confident person gave a damn about me. Brava, Natasha, I feel happier and enriched from reading your poem. That's a hard thing to do, dear.

To me, this poem describes so well that inner and true self defying all the outlaying entities that try to falsely define it. The beauty lies in the tenacity of the struggle. 'I've crushed kingdoms and toppled thrones The definition of who I am
Is always ready to be rewritten!' made me teary when I read it. So, so good!
