We Are the World...

Do you think this was the plan,

When the earth revealed to us her true riches

It was so she could watch us fight tooth and nail

To control them?

Do you think this was HIS plan

To arm the children with weapons

To tackle the nonbelievers

Charlatans and deceivers.

Back to work means back to war

A revolution built on fear

Scarcity, propaganda

Could we not plant a garden to feed the hungry

Rather than sell a military contract

To a corporation who profits

From death and despair.

Why is the right choice always the hardest?

Why should we have to cry when we watch the news

Or feel the seed of hate attempting to be planted

As big business buys the main stream.

Are you content to live this way?

Does your heart hold the soil

Where the seed will thrive

Nourished in shadows

And misinformation.

Are you proud to be a member of the only species

That can attack without provocation

That will kill for crude

Every man, woman, and child?

Are you willing to stand by

While our need for consumption

Corrupts the entrepreneurial spirit

The holy spirit

And our sacred hearts.

The answer lies within

It always has

We know the man who holds the gun

Will be the man to misconstrue the threat

Even more so when it’s invisible

Taking root within his soul

We were created out of love

No matter which maker you give credit to

We were created to foster peace

No matter the army colors your wear

We were created as a whole

With no soul left behind

So that we too, could create...
