Wait and See What Comes
There you go.
Fight over.
You win.
Happy now?
Caught, ensnared
wrapped so tight in your gossamer threads
spun silken around this heart.
I wouldn't call it defeat
Just a simple admission
that my ways are too soft to hurt you.
That's not what I want.
I need your love
and as long as I do
I know I'll forever be trapped.
Accepting my fate now,
so things should get better.
No more pleas for release
No more midnight discussions on the state of my being
What are wishes
if not simply unrealized dreams?
I dare not attempt this life without wishes.
That would be too cruel.
Ready to follow orders,
shelve the dreams
and moving forward
we'll wait and see what comes.

And follow to win
Or concede in the least
Sometimes that's the nature of the beast
Happy now?
Oh, that smirk!
it's never easy, but hey, it's love.

I hope this is poetry and not yourself Tash. You know your own mind of course if this is describing yourself and you know what is best for you too but, don't sell your self short just to keep someone. No-one ought to shelve their dreams, our dreams are what jeeps hope alive. Darn.

Can't tell you how much this speaks to my state of being right now. Is compromise the act of giving up one's own wishes? I hate to think so, but but sure feeling that way at the moment. So here's to realizing our own strengths and pursuing our dreams!
shelve the dreams
and moving forward....hard and heartfelt. Sucks to shelve your dreams. Hugs.
Man oh man, I can identify with this one. So sad, beautifully written, and so much vulnerability behind the little bit of attitude in the "Happy now?"

Such powerful opening lines! Great write.
thank you for your beautiful words.
if not simply unrealized dreams?
Been there and still caught in the limbo of turning away. The line about being too soft to hurt is incredibly real. I wonder if ending the fight unresolved was the right thing all around but would winning have gained anything? Acceptance is difficult.
This resounded with me.
