Time
Always so relevant. I live my life a second at a time, counting each and every one. Rushing to get here, speeding to get there, sometimes with no direction, sometimes without a care. Watching so closely, one would think it would draaaaaag.
Flying through space, imagining disastrous consequences should I not make it in time. Constantly feeling like it's the fight of all fights, full combat and fright, the strength to survive the night. In the darkness, the ticking of its hands become thunderous.
It is the innocence and blushing urges of the maiden, not really knowing how, yet in juvenile stubbornness insisting on moving forward, convinced there are seconds to spare as she races towards infinity.
It is the desire to tend to the nest, as Mother ensures all but herself are tended to...there are only so many hours in a day.
It is the wisdom of the crone...watching years fall away like minutes, knowing it all amounts to life...and legacy.
Still, the clocks are internal. Set by a time keeper who shall remain nameless. For to breathe the name results in only chaos...and we've not the time to right our wrongs.
