OpenLinkNight 9 ~ dVersePoets ~ Nameless

Nameless faces
Nameless streets
A wave of bodies

                       She battles
                       weak against the power
                       strength in numbers

Forsaken directions
At merciless hands
Painted as one

                        Her stomach growls
                        her womb emptied
                        judged

Their connection to source sacrificed
To feed hungry off spring
Devastated

                         Harlot of hand-me-downs
                         Daddy left her bruised
hated by a mother not her own

They fall prey to the dogma
That has dictated their path
Predicted their demise

                           Forced into the crowd
                           unwelcome
                           tainted Saint of Beautiful

Dignity vanished age 21
Mama found  daddy
Daddy found gun

Too much of a good thing
                            ancient before her time
                            decayed purity rotting

Run, run, run
Freedom was a promise
Broken now done

                               Immaculate conception
                               the idea of safe passage
                               route chosen

Sweet escape
Nose dive concrete
Who fears skyscrapers?

                                A bronze t-bird
                                highway to hell
                                roller coaster to freedom

Angels within reach,
Compassion, distraction
A nameless face

                                 Alive in the wreckage
                                 Pure in the pain
                                 flavored with copper

Fall from grace
Onto heaven
Pushed out of place.

I'll steal a word from you and say this was a roller coaster of a write, okay the was two words but oh well, only thing though, is I'd never nose dive concrete, that just wouldn't be neat. rather messy sight it would be, wouldn't be able to tell your nose from your knee..haha

whew...what a ride tash..a harrowing tale...i am usure in the end her choice but many were thrust upon her by lifes circumstance and of course she will be judged for that...if only the angels did find tem all and take them in...nicely done...like the form too...

Tash, wonderful piece, really a ride indeed. I really like how this piece works as a whole or when each 3 line stanza is looked at individually they each have their own tale to tell- really enjoyed, thanks again

What a sad story to dwell upon...

A sad story and an excellent write, Tasha.
The zig zag of a crazy life in a crazy world. So sad that too many live on the edge. Nicely done.

Whoa, heavy write Tash! I think the structure and alternating stanzas work really well in this piece. I really like the rhythm and rhyming in "Dignity vanished age 21 / Mama found daddy
Daddy found gun" and "Run, run, run / Freedom was a promise / Broken now done". Though gloomy, I enjoyed the ride. Great write!

This took me so many different places, hand me downs, stepmother, Mama found Daddy, did dad kill himself? Jumping from a skyscraper, nose dive concrete, path to hell, bronze t-bird, roller coaster to freeedom...... what emotions for someone to go through. I used to not be able to understand the emotions suicidal people would have.... You know, like "Waht was he thinking?" But now I think I understand. And I think it can be just as sporadic as your poem depicts. This is very, very well written.....

An energetic and elevated swirl of impressions that works very well as a narrative. You have many ways to create and communicate. This is a very engaging style--once you begin it, you fall straight through to the end.
So pointilistic in places like:

Mama found daddy
Daddy found gun

I like the word dance of that, and other passages.

Take heart, if any of this is your actual story. It is never too late to have a good childhood!

Wow, this is raw, rough and what a tough life.
I agree with Charles, it's never too late for the inner child to find a voice.
Fabulous prose, haunting, savage topic.

very tragic. the ending really punches the reader in the guts.

powerful bit of poetry here.

And I thought I had the corner on such sadness...

The zig-zag effect works well to twine the two discourses together of her history and her tragic future, then with that "push" you leave her to her fate!

This is amazing. I am gripped by the power of the story and emotions I feel. Love how you set the shape of the words... and the writing... excellent. Sad if this is your story, just when we think we can't reach the angels... they somehow reach down to us. Some of these poems tonight are causing me to pray. =)

Uncompromising and stark, urgent and compelling write, Natasha. As others have said, the stair step style works well with that feeling of disjointedness. "highway to hell/rollar coaster to freedom.." This made quite an impression.

Really well told. This really conveys a feeling of being consumed by life.

Phew!!! That's how life is for some.. liked reading it.. not for minute felt like missing even a word every word conveying life's misery .. liked the way of presenting as well.

'alive in the wreakage' aren't we all in some way or another. Thought provoking and left me lacrimose looking for an escape route, powerful stuff.

Wow...

Freedom was a promise
Broken now done

Powerful, vivid and mesmerizing. Exceptional poetry.

The blunt emotions in this poem are like buffering winds coming at the reader from every direction -- history in all its unshielded wattage -- so much so that I didn't so much read as fall down the stanzas like a ladder with no rungs to the conclusion. A hard fall, but the poem has set a structure in place that will allow steps up and out to be created. (Poem after poem, image after image, I venture.) Great work - Brendan

Sad, but powerfully written, short comment, as words are silenced

The composition of this made felt of walking steps, really lent to the read. Powerful with emotion Tash, really a compelling write. ~ Rose

Excellently woven as usual Natasha! Those two lines are so true...and that's why empires are falling, falling in slow motion...

Gotta love it!

Fantastic pacing for this unfolding nightmare. This feeling of loss, of scarring and irreparable damage, just infects and lingers in the reader's mind.

"Pure in the pain

by that point, i tasted the copper...

i agree with Mama Zen ~ you quite evocatively portray the feelings of being consumed by life. a powerful write that is quite sensitive to her plight.

the structure really enhances the words. brilliant, Natasha!
